    This part is often skipped in the headscarf debate and just thought it deserved mention:

    The wearing of the headscarf was also criticized as a means to enforce peer pressure on the girls not wearing it. A relevant issue was that the relevant group being pressured was Muslim girls not wearing the scarf, who could sometimes be endangered inside or outside school unless they submitted to wearing the scarf like their classmates.

    So its not just about those wearing the scarf. Its similar to forced conformity when prayers where lead by teachers and u had to leave if u didn’t want too, but now it was student to student.
